
Researchers at the University of Chicago have developed a microscope lens assembly which may be clipped to a smartphone to magnify microscopic images 555X. Although the device was developed to allow video recording and analysis of sperm motility, it has much broader potential applications.
The device can be used with your smartphone as a field microscope enabling both photographs as well as video of microscopic samples to be recorded and texted or emailed to colleagues, or stored for later analysis.
